When it comes to missing teeth, patients have quite a few options to get their old smile back. It is believed that more than 35 million Americans are missing all the lower and/or upper teeth. What many are unaware of is that all-on-4 dental implants can replace an entire set of teeth with just four dental implants.  Here’s how it works.

 The Process

Dental implants can be used to replace one tooth, but the real benefit is that you can replace more than one tooth with one implant. When an implant is placed, a hole is drilled in the jawbone by the dentist and a titanium screw is put into place. Over time, the bone grows around this screw and the final tooth can be placed over the implant.

When all the teeth are missing, that’s when all-on-4 becomes valuable. Rather than placing an implant for each tooth, you only need four implants for the upper set of teeth and four for the lower set of teeth. These implants attach a set of dentures to the upper or lower jaw. Because the implants are placed directly in the jawbone, the titanium rod stimulates bone growth and regeneration like a natural tooth would.

Good Candidates

At Atlanta Dental Solutions, we are happy to schedule a consultation to see if you are a good candidate for all-on-4 dental implants. Those who benefit from this procedure are missing all or most of their teeth or are currently using removable dentures to replace missing teeth. If you are in good health, age should have no effect on your candidacy. Dr. Becker is happy to meet with you to discuss your options for tooth replacement.
